Thanks for a very pretty personalized apron you made for my grand daughter Lily’s 10th Birthday! While she may not be ready for Bake-Off yet, she certainly looks the part and her iced (lots of it!) cup cakes were delicious. 

I had a fantastic (and probably very expensive) tweed jacket that was a present from a load of friends on my 50th. I lost a lot of weight and as a consequence, the jacket was far too big – Shirley managed to make it fit again – I’m thrilled.

I went to Shirley less than 4 weeks before my wedding, after being told by everyone I had gone to that my dress could not be altered to fit me without drastically changing (in other words ruining) my dress with a huge bill to match. I then found Shirley after I had pretty much given up hope, after being told I was wrong and nothing could be done. She got me in straight away, put me at ease (especially seems as I was almost nude!) and re-assured me the dress could be fixed without a problem and without breaking the bank. It was done in fantastic timing with time to spare and looked absolutely stunning.   She saved the day no doubt, extremely grateful and highly recommended!

Our visits to Shirley were a pleasure and the final results were perfect. Shirley paid great attention to detail to make sure that my daughter felt secure in her dress, adding a bustle for that all important first dance.

She worked with each bridesmaid, altering the dresses to suit their different needs in a thoughtful and considerate way.

She clearly loves the work she does and takes great pride in finding the perfect solution!

I was getting married late afternoon in December last year in Christ Church and wanted an outfit that was not white or sleeveless and very importantly suitable for a young 61 year old!   None of the Wedding Boutiques in the town were able to help me other than to suggest I should have something made.

I didn’t really know what I wanted other than as it was a winter wedding I would need an outer garment of some description as it could be cold or even snowing.  Time was moving on and I could not put this off any further.  I took a deep breath one afternoon and rang Shirley’s number.  I explained that I was 61, getting married in December and needed an outfit and would Shirley be interested in helping me with this?   Shirley’s personality shone through and her positivity was just what I needed to hear – we set a date to meet.  The rest as they say is history. 

Shirley is extremely patient (I had little idea what I wanted) as well as very creative with design and colour choices.  I had no knowledge to what standard Shirley’s work would be – I was thrilled.  Shirley is friendly and easy to talk to, very professional in her work ethic and skills and I would have no hesitation in recommending her.  Shirley, with the added help of her husband, went the extra mile to adapt and improve a Fascinator I had bought as a finishing touch to the outfit. Not only did Shirley support me she very kindly assisted my partner with his choices to ensure there was cohesion between our outfits.

The day was perfect.  My outfit consisting of both inner and outer garments suited my personality and made me feel confident and radiant – I just cannot thank Shirley enough.

Shirley made us a dress for my 1 year old daughter to wear at our wedding. She made the most fantastic dress. It was gorgeous and fitted her amazingly well. I won’t be keeping my dress from the day but I will definitely be keeping hers. I’d recommend Shirley to anyone for bespoke,  one of a kind outfits’.

I found the whole experience of using Shirley as my dress maker to be enjoyable, I felt completely at ease in her company and she always completed the work agreed within the set timescales and agreed price.   The final result was an extremely happy and pleased bridal party, and a bride who honestly had never felt so beautiful as I did in my wedding dress.
