This jacket is made from a silk shantung fabric which is a unique Liberty design.  The design of the jacket is based on a riding jacket and has a deep, wide attached peplum a the back which moves with the wearer.  The two piece sleeve demonstrates the fact that the sleeve takes on the natural curve of the arm.  The sleeve has a grown on turn back cuff.  The jacket was lined with peach Bremsilk and a plain orange skirt was made in shantung silk to finish the outfit.  There was also a short sleeved top in crepe de chine in the same design as the jacket fabric.  Speed tailoring techniques were used to make this garment, but a light touch was used to make sure that the soft quality of the fabric was not compromised in the construction.  Worked buttonholes were used with the corded buttons.
