The challenge for this dress was the fabric, which was a silk sari brought back from India. We wanted a design which showed off the fabric and retained some of the Indian flavour. Saris have different patterns throughout their length, so the top and skirt could be different parts of the same fabric length. Machine embroidery was done on the bodice in complimentary colours, and rhinestones line the front of the skirt and are dotted around the flower patterns. The underskirt was a plain fabric which picked out one of the main colours in the garment.
