The fit on Courtnee’s dress was vital to achieve comfort and beauty. The bodice was heavily beaded, so all alterations involved removing beads, making the alterations to both top layer and lining and then restoring the beads, so the dress till looked perfect. The sides of the bodice, and the back fastening had to be altered. The inside was adjusted to ensure the bra did not show, with loops on the side and a bra ‘tab’ at the front which ensured a snug fit at the front. Courtnee had a very clear idea of what she wanted the length of the dress to be. We had to reduce the length by a considerable amount, and there were several layers of chiffon to adjust. The back was to be a small ‘puddle’ which could then be pinned up with a button and loop fastening in the evening as required.
