Kitty chose a black beaded lined dress which could be worn for future events after the prom. The lining was a stretch fabric, so the hem was turned up using a three step zig zag which allowed the hem to stretch if necessary but also lay smooth and flat. Once we had agreed the length of the dress, a line of white tacking was stitched around the level of the turn up. The beads below this line were then removed using a hammer to smash the beads. This ensures that the remaining beads are still firmly attached to the fabric of the dress and will not fall off. The hem was then turned up and stitched by hand and the tacking line removed.
