Katy's prom dress

Katie’s dress was several layers of chiffon and satin in the skirt, with linings underneath.  The bodice was fastened at the back round the neck.  The problem for the bodice was that it was designed to accommodate a very large bust!  Somehow we had to take fabric out of the georgette overlayer without it showing and restore the beading.   This was achieved by taking out small darts and then disguising them with beading.  The side seams were also taken in to achieve a good fit around the bodice.  The hem was shortened, but the flowing train was left at the back.  A 3 point button and loop fastening was created at the back to pin the dress up for the dancing.  The three points ensured that the drape at the back looked attractive and that there was sufficient strength in the loops to support the weight of all the layers of the dress.
